Charlie Berens, the host of the Manitowoc Minute, heads to his garage for his next DIY project where he teaches viewers how to build their own Giant Jenga set for their backyard game collection. Using a miter saw, carpentry square and a Palm Sander he got over at the Fleet Farm, Charlie creates a masterpiece from the scrap wood in his rafters.

‘Watch out for deer, ” really is the MidWest version of ‘I love you.” I’m starting to get teary eyed

Safety tip: Count your fingers before doing the cutting. It will save going through the sawdust later.

I nearly choked with the opening remarks about every garage in the MidWest having a stash of wood. I live alone and am female...but I have lumber in my garage and rafters.

I just moved out of the Midwest and this made me so freaking happy. Reminds me of home <3

I came back to Ohio from NYC to stay for a couple months since I'm laid off, and was immediately put to work by my father... building trellises out of scrap wood. Cons: we used the old truck bed to lay the wood out and found wasps had built a nest there. Pros: always fun to use the nail gun. Thanks for these videos, they always make me smile.

The Midwest
"The Silicon Valley of scrap wood, the Wall Street of sad lumber, the Hollywood of crap wood."
Also
The hoarder capital of drift wood you brought home because it would make a great trophy fish mount and has been sitting in the back of your garage for years but you refuse to throw it on the fire because by now saying, “I’ll get around to it” has basically become a tradition.

Sometimes I just hammer some nails in a piece of wood and say its a necklace holder for my girlfriend.

The scrap wood reminded me of my grandpa. His workshop was always full of scrap wood and he always said waste not want not.He probably had enough to build a couple sheds go Packers😎

I went a step further with my Giant JENGA, GOT A UTILITY WIRE SPOOL, added wheels with brakes, metal plate on the top and painted. Perfect height for setting up the game, move easily around the patio, lock in place so it doesn't move . I use belt sander for the pieces. Also made checkers game on a taller spool and tik tak how on a third, cut wooden Iowa's and tractors for playing pieces. All can double as movable tables during events as well. Bright colors make things fun.

Man, you got to put a comedy routine together for the theatre once this whole pandemic thing is over. Props are legitimate. Easily one of the most hilarious people on the internet. Not to be misunderstood I mean laughing with you not at you. I could have never thought of anything you put on YT. I keep being as a subscriber surprised by how good your new ideas are

My in-laws had a garage like that. Scrapwood/barnwood. At work they made a 2x4 jenga like that. When it falls on the patio, what a NOISE!

I did a double take on his garage. It looks EXACTLY like the one I had in Brookfield. He isnt joking about the old scrap wood in the rafters!

Lol! Grew up in Massachusetts...my dad was a huge scrap wood collector and could build anything. After I had my son, I collected wooden blocks from construction sites. He had a huge tote of great castle-building elements...tons!
