Veteran Gandhi family aide Sam Pitroda’s praise for inheritance tax levied in the US set off a political slugfest. In Episode 1438 of Cut The Clutter, Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta explains how taxation in some form of estate or gift taxes was levied in India until as recently as 2016 and why doing away with it was a step in the right direction.

If Congress is so concerned about wealth redistribution, let them first start by redistributing the wealth of the Gandhi family and all the land of the WAQF board.

I will never vote for this evil party ever!

My vote is completely committed to the BJP

Sam Pitroda might have done the "pind daan" of INC's 2024 campaign. Modi's had set the target of "only" "400 paar". Rahul Gandhi and Sam Pitroda have taken it upon themselves to deliver BJP a "500 paar" mandate to the BJP.

I just don't understand Congress and especially pappu's hate against wealth creators in our country.
I am from very humble background, hands to mouth type, always studied in government institutions, and now doing good. I made my life by studying and working hard, and i am not ready to pay 50% of my earnings to govt as tax.
I am not a modi fan but i can not vote for Congress party either

Are Chidambaram, Kharge, Kamal Nath etc ok with their wealth being redistributed? Do they agree with the inheritence tax? Journalists are too scared to ask these questions

Apart from GST, Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax, this 55% inheritance tax is death tax for middle class and people who file income tax returns.

I absolutely don’t agree with you defending Manmohan Singh’s statement it’s purely Muslim oriented statement like they have passed a bill now Karnataka to include all Muslims rich or poor in OBC category so ultimately Manmohan singh meant what he said that first right of India’s resources is for Muslim … bill shit

You are telling a lie SG. Manmohan Singh, at the end of his statement, declared that the Muslims have the first right on wealth of the country.

Land or Real Estate is one of the biggest forms of wealth in India.

WAQF Law is a glaring example of how the Congress has gifted wealth in form of laws.

To count down such frustrated ideas of Congress, BJP should get 400+

Congress’ bad ideas will ensure it is out of power for a long time now. The overt unnecessary influence of Left thinkers - resulting in dark socialist ideas - is causing the decline of what used to be a moderate centrist party encompassing all sorts of ideas. For now, Narendra Modi is indeed the best India can afford.

As long the likes of Yogendra Yadav, Jairam Ramesh, and other left liberals keep advising Raoul, India will be safe with Modi.

The real problem is not if Dr. Singh said Muslims have the first right or not. The real problem is making these group based rights claims. No person should have a higher right to anything just based on what group he's born in. Does Mr. Prakash Ambedkar have a first claim to a train ticket over a poor Brahmin?

6:20 Shekhar Gupta resorting to outright lies here!! Chalo, yeh bhi dekh liya. On Barkha's show, Abhijit Iyer Mitra has reviewed Singh's ENTIRE statement, and it is clear, they meant Muslims.
Words are unclear, then let's look at actions: 1. Congress was in power for 8 years after that statement was made. They NEVER refuted it. 2. They tried their hardest to include Muslims under OBC reservation. This is currently the case in Karnataka. 3. They proposed the Communal Riot bill, where it doesn't matter who the perpetrator is, ONLY the majority community - Hindus, will be considered guilty. If that is NOT an open license for Gazwa-e-Hind, I don't know what is.
Shame on you, GuptaJi. Shame on you!

For a country to develop, focus should be on wealth creation, not just on wealth redistribution (that is a very limited resource in a country like India).
