This Is the BIGGEST MOD for Mass Effect 3 You've Seen Yet

Mass Effect 3 has alot to discover - But this increases to an insane degree when you add the Expanded Galaxy Mod into the mix.
This mod is quite famous ever since the original Mass Effect 3 days - As it adds so much content to the game, examples being a restored conversation between Ashley & Liara. But since it's been partly ported to Mass Effect Legendary Edition - I felt like this mod deserved an entire video of it's own.

Me: Hmm, I don't know. It looks cool and all but not something I see as necessary.

MrHulthen: You can invite Tali up to your cabin and watch movies together.

Me: I'LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK!

At 4:38, you mention collectables around the ship and show Shepard picking up model ships to display in their cabin. This is already a base-game feature, for both the original and legendary editions. The collectables you had from your ME2 save import are tucked around the ship, ostensibly moved while everything was being upgraded.

Similarly, the "new companion outfits" were DLC from the original

I really like the idea of spending casual time with squad mates, especially your love interest, and especially Tali. The mass effect games are linear RPG shooters, but being able to explore more of the RPG aspects helps connect players to the NPCs and strengthens player investment. So in future games, i want to see more relaxed downtime, extended dialog trees, and crew reactions. I envison the atmosphere created in the Citadel DLC. I also want a bigger return in investing in relationships. Imagine how satisfying it would have been if you could have married your love interest in ME3 before the final battle. Knowing you have a future waiting for you is a huge motivation to survive. Plus it could reveal more about alien marriage rituals.

So, I played the original and I wanted to add some notes to your video. Keep in mind that I don't have legendary edition (I'm not paying 60$ when all I'm missing are the ME1 dlcs, which I can't install since I got it through steam before I knew better.)

1. There are minigames where the Normandy's armaments and/or customizations that you buy for her make those games easier. For example, there's a visit to Thessia where you have to grab up refugees and war assets while the Salarians, Asari, Quarian and Geth fleets buy you time. After a certain point you can't do any more and you can't save ALL the Asari that are trying to flee Thessia. If you do the right balance of refugees, cultural artifacts and war assets Diana Allers will run a piece that adds a little to your war asset score.

2. There are galaxy map missions that tie into the multiplayer classes, giving an explanation for how each joined the war effort. These all run similarly to the above evacuation of Thessia. You have to choose and you only have a certain amount of time to save everyone. However the opener to this series of galaxy missions almost gave me a heart attack. Go to earth (its open) and set off your sensor pings. But um... don't go too far from the mass relay... >.> these weren't the normal reapers that attack you in EVERY other system. These guys must have been chugging freakin caffine they were so fast! And I do mean every other system, because everywhere you've been from ME1 and 2 are all unlocked. There are even war assets on places like Illos or Virmire that you can collect and either use or trade for material.

3. My favorite roleplaying related feature of the mod are the visitors you can have on the Normandy. After every mission where an ME2 squadmate appears, if they're still alive afterwards, they'll show up on the Normandy's lower decks somewhere. Jacob and Miranda weren't there mind. Neither was Samara. But if they don't say they've got their own transport or they're staying behind, expect to find them on the Normandy somewhere until you return to a major port (IE the citadel) to let them off. My favorite was when you rescue Jack and her students. They throw a party in the lounge that has the bar in it, but its so loud that David Archer retreats to the AI chamber to play chess with Edi, who uses holographic pieces on an electronic board to play with David. You can ask him what he thinks of the party and he says "earplugs would be good." My second favorite is after Grunt's mission, if you enter the normandy's sickbay you find Dr. Chakwas and whomever you picked up for extra personelle tending to his wounds and a few survivors of his squad down in the cargo bay with James and Cortez. The "not Grunt" (ie if he died in ME2) is there, being cast by the mod author as Grunt's second in command.

4. you can get a set of spectre armor after Ashley or Kaiden are accepted to the Spectres, and get a new weapon. when you interact with the new armor Shepard says "And this is my faaaavorite store on the citadel." The note left with it is from spectre R+D, who have decided that with two human spectres its best to start working on fine tuning their equipment to fit humans. The spectre armor is identical to what's her name, the Asari spectre from Lair of the Shadow broker. You know who I mean.

5. you can sneak through the omega 4 relay to aquire a set of collector weapons and armor, which alliance R+D will reproduce for you.

This mod ( minor spoiler )

Has a side mission called "Ghosts of Antillin", which gave a larger story detail on the Virtual Aliens, an alien race that were merely mentioned in Mass Effect 2, but never got a follow up in 3, like the Raloi. In my opinion, the "Ghosts of Antillin" would have been a perfect DLC, in place of DLCs such as Leviathan or From Ashes.

this mod looks so cool. it makes me wish i could use them but unfortunately i play the game on console. either way it's great to see the community still producing such great content for the game making it even better than before. maybe bioware could take some notes and apply them to the next game

Even after my first run with it, I knew I'd never be able to play Mass Effect 3 without EGM again. Damn fine mod.

I love the ME mod community. This is some awesome work, and man I wish I could get these mods on console. My favorite one is being able to change your squadmates' outfits when not on missions because I hate how they automatically switch back to the default.

just finished a playthrough of ME3 legendary edition with the EGM mod and it fits in so well and adds just an insane amount of QoL changes that it almost feels necessary for future play throughs .

Modders will make this game worthy of being called Legendary, eventually. Shame BioWare didn't even come close.

EGM is mainly lore-overhaul mod than gameplay to be saying. It adds many systems from ME1/ME2 to scan around to find random war assets, even go into Omega Relay once (with properly edited ME2 cutscene). I just wish there would've been mission expanding mods that use multiplayer/campaign maps - missions you could repeat again and again that appear randomly with edited dialogs to tell different objective why we got here with guns blazin' again.

EGM is the best mod to ever grace my playthrough. My advice, the mod page has some mod recommendation that integrate with the game. INSTALL ALL OF THEM.

After Priority Thessia, there is a small mission that will make you want to smash your keyboard. You have been warned.
