I think I would like to rephrase what Mr Nawaz said, as it so clearly applies to so many of us in the world,
It is thoroughly _inhuman_ to ban something we disagree with, unless it is violent.

The nagip is essentially a ski mask, and business should definitely have the right to ban it for security reasons. I get the right to free expression, but when your free expression insulates you from accountability and puts others in danger, then it is not unreasonable to limit its use.

I agree with his grievances, but I worry that people will use his lawsuit irresponsibly. That is I can easily imagine someone saying "the SPLC's is completely unreliable, just look what they did to Maajid" the same way people say "you can't trust the ADL, they defend white nationalists." Even though the SPLC's ideology doesn't match my own, I still realize that there are a lot of nasty people that have been waiting to discredit them entirely. In general I worry about people like Maajid being able to differentiate between people who actually hold liberal values and those who exploit liberal values to create useful idiots for the right or to hide their rightist views.
