When you take the square root of 7, it can either be a negative or positive number, therefore u have to say plus or minus to account for both of them. Think about it, -5 x -5 = 25 and 5 x 5 = 25, its plus or minus the number.

@BerryBeastinU It still does not matter. You must also display in your equation the imaginary number i to represent for the negative. Outside of the square of course.

Why is it nine plus or minus the square root of seven (9:25) instead of the square root of negative seven since 81+-88=-7.

wouldn't it be plus or minus the square root of negative 7 so wouldn't the square root be imaginary?
