These New Alienation Chain Tensioners Are SICK!!!

Показать описание
These new chain tensioners from Alienation are a simple and elegant solution to a long time problem BMX has dealt with from the beginning!

Built in chain tensioners can break and also have to be loosened in order to remove the rear wheel of a bike. These Alienation c jerks are easily removed and essentially put the rear wheel in a slammed state at any position in the drop out. Such a cool solution that is available now!

This is cool, they should try and sell all 7 sizes in one kit, to make it simpler to purchase, and a guaranteed fit.

So glad someone brought this idea back. I’ve been looking for something like these for years.

Remember “simple wheel slammers” or something like that from sidewall distro… similar product, looks clean.

Also a good way to make sure your wheel is always sitting straight!

This video was mentioned on bmx museum. I’ve been struggling with keeping a good chain tension on these short dropouts. Great job with the vid, Brant!

Cool little thing, can sure help especially on new complete bikes. Might need 2 sizes for when replacing the chain. I used to sell salt chain tensioners as "frame savers", keeps the dropouts from bending in so its a bonus feature!

Great idea but nobody is going to be able to figure out what size they need

I think it's a good idea if you have the correct fit. It's not always going to be correct first try. Might have to get 2 sizings and return one. Also, why are the sizes written on the part of the washers that you could see? Should be written on the backside.

15 years ago I took old DK chain tensioners and flipped them around and grind it to fit like this I still have them on my old BMX bike today

I really like this idea because it was always said a slamed wheel Never needs to be adjusted again. Unfortunately that's near impossible to do with proper gearing and chain tension. Once you get it right it always loosens off of over time resetting all the "progress" you made. I'm gonna check these out for sure

Cool product. I'm sure I saw something like this over a decade ago. Personally, I prefer integrated chain tensioners but these would do a better job of holding your wheel exactly where you want it, whereas integrated ones will bend if the rear wheel takes a hard enough hit. On a side note, I always get jealous when I see Brant's hollow Key Chain.

I will 100% be looking into these I'm using cheap Amazon ones that use screws right now.

Simple used to make some of those in a small size, just about the size of a spacer like the ones used with the axle nuts, then a bigger spacer that fit right over that one and it was about peg size. I tried them but they didn't work for me cause the filler piece had a shape that didn't fit perfectly at all between the front of the axle and the end of the dropout slot, so I started making my own out of just a small piece of 14 ga spoke that I would shape up with pliers and that worked perfect. I'm currently using a 3/32 chain pin on each side and it's the best thing since sliced bread

I imagine there will be a lot of returns with people ordering the wrong size and with people who’s wheel is not perfectly laced centrally

This reminds me of that one Ali G short about eliminating all denominations of change so we have "just bills." Like the idea of a $37.76 US bill is the same as having Chain Tensioners for all these lengths. You either gotta promise me that trends will no longer stretch or shrink chain stays AND that there is gonna be a way to "stack" tensioners and get longer or shorter lengths for 20"+ bikes.

I got some but mine were 2mm too small. It's easy to measure wrong when you're talking about a half a mm. Like crazy easy. I'd talk to who your buying them from and, if you have the money, buy 3 sizes you think will be close and return the 2 that don't fit. They're expensive. Like $35. $35 is a fair amount of money to just "throw away" if you get it wrong. They should think of a slightly better way to make them. Maybe have a screw that adjust them for more length. I'd also HIGHLY recommend a spline drive sprocket!!! As we all know, this much chain tension is going pull on your sprocket bolt and grind that sprocket hole bigger. Making the chain move a mm or 2 & negating these once again. This won't happen with a spline drive. They'll stay nice and snug. With all that said, if you have a spline drive and the correct fit, these are a game changer & give you peace of mind knowing the back wheel wont slip.
