This song raises some basic questions and conflicts with some crucial Scriptures.

Where do I begin? Let's start with Romans 8:7-8:

Romans 8:7-8
English Standard Version (ESV)
7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

If the Savior wants to come into my heart, He's got a long wait. Paul says that those who are in the flesh cannot please God. They are not able.

Did Jesus wait outside Lazarus's tomb, time after time, to see if Lazarus was willing to come out?

Romans 9:14-18
English Standard Version (ESV)
14 What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God's part? By no means! 15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” 16 So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.

Verse 16 says that God's mercy in salvation depends not the the human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.

Ephesians 2:1-6
English Standard Version (ESV)
2 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus...

So, let me get this straight. I'm dead in sin, by nature a child of wrath, doing what I want to do, and all of a sudden I'm going to "ask Jesus into my heart"? Not what Paul says. Paul says that when I was dead, God raised me up. Salvation is God's doing from first to last. We are saved by grace, through faith, and the faith is a gift of God.

Ephesians 2:8-9
English Standard Version (ESV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Dead sinners will never voluntarily resurrect themselves.

This song is so full of bad theology it makes my ears bleed.
