Outsourcing: Philippines Vs. India

When it comes to outsourcing, two nations reign supreme, the Philippines and India. Enjoying first-mover advantage, the Indian outsourcing industry reigned supreme for years, and remains the leader in IT services to this day. However, with stronger English skills, accent neutrality, a highly Westernized culture, lower costs and solid government support, the Philippines offers a better strategic advantage. Especially for customer-facing that require excellent communication and soft skills.

Honestly, I think Filipinos have got a lot to thank for Indians for their reliable youtube tutorials.

Let’s just put Indians in the technical section and put Filipinos in the customer service section. That would be a great teamwork.

All he said is true. I'm a Filipino who works in a call center ( BPO ) company here in the Philippines for more than four years. Much respect to our fellow Indian brothers and sisters they also have a lot of skills when it comes to technology. Salute to all Indians around the world.

Filipinos have very adaptive accents that take on whatever the predominant accent is in their environment. Most call center workers don’t speak the same accent at home or with their friends even when speak English. It’s like a switch they turn on for work.

An American client talking to a BPO CS in the Philippines was so amazed that she even asked " Am I talking to a human".

For us Filipinos who have worked in the Call Centers, it's an accepted fact that for tech issues we have to shout " Call India!!!" for speedy fixes, so it has been a great partnership and a healthy relationship, We love India!!!

As a Filipino and a former IBMer, I agree that Indians are very technically proficient. As far as accent and vocabulary are concerned, I think Indians are more attuned to British English while Filipinos are more adjusted to American English.

I was a 411 operator in the mid 2000's here in the Philippines.
I sounded like Bruce Willis when i'm taking calls and Leo Martinez when I stepped out of the floor.

India and Philippines complement each other in terms of BPO. Once, we are rivals but now I guess we are more of a partner.

Not related to this, but when I came to Canada 28 years ago my prospective boss interviewed me for 3 hours and then hired me on the spot! He then asked me where did I learn to speak English well? I simply said “At home”! 🥰

I agree that indians have this vast tech knowledge. It is something that they know and can do even with their eyes closed. I have nothing but high praises to my indian trainors during my time in the bpo.

I've worked in the IT business spending time on the phone with various people from different countries. If I have to generalize a bit, which isn't exactly bad.. but India have great talents for tech knowledge, but the Philippines has better phone and conversational skills than the ones in India. I have to say, I encounter way too many rude Indians from customer service and tech support. I usually end up getting really stressed just talking to them. So yeah, I think you can train Filipinos tech-wise, that is easy! And then you can get the best from their customer service skills since their hospitality is innate with them. So choose Philippines is my answer.
