You NEED to read Americanah by Chimamanda Adichie! It's my all-time favorite book. I was also given it to read in my AP Lit class and was so surprised by how much I loved it. I going to pick up Purple Hibiscus now!

I'm from Ireland, so I would love to recommend two amazing authors from here. Marita Conlon-McKenna writes stories set in historical times of Ireland. They are beautifully written and handle the sometimes tough subject matter very well while also staying true to historical accuracy. The second is Claire Keegan. She mostly writes shorter stories that thrive in their simplicity, with an underlined plot that pulls your heartstrings.
