Oh, come on, Michel van Biezen, there're at least two simpler ways to get the answer. And doing so, you don't even need a calculator at all. :D 1. You can use this: 27=3^3, and the rest is a plain sailing. Or: 2. You can raise the base of the logarithm (3) and the "number" (2) to the same power. In this case raise them to the third power, which gives us log 27 of 8, and there you have it, the base of the exponential guy and the base of the logarithic guy are the same. The rest is really easy. :)

When using change of base, you can use base 27 instead of base 10 as your logarithmic change of base. Much cleaner and more effective method, and the base 27 method doesn't require a calculator.2️⃣7️⃣

What about rewriting 27 as 3^3.
That way we get (3^3)^[-log{3}(2)]
Transform to 3^[-3*log{3}(2)]
=3^[log{3}(2^-3)]
=2^(-3)
=1/8
