It was known as Superfortress "Over Exposed" and she took part in the Berlin Air Lift too. Crashed Nov. 3, 1948. There were 11 crew and two passengers killed in the wreck and no survivors.

“Not like I’m going to take anything, it’s all gonna stay here”

You just prevented yourself from being haunted.

Thank you Simon. This brought tears to my eyes. My Father served in WWll, Korea and. Viet Nam and fortunately came home safely except ofcourse the scars of seeing things he would never tell to his children. Seeing that tribute on foreign soil after so many years is extremely touching!
Bless you!❤

Si, thanks for sharing this. My dad was stationed in the UK for part of the time he served during WW2. He always spoke fondly of way he was treated by the people there. Thanks for sharing this. He would have turned 100 next month.

Thank you Simon for showing one of our military planes. My father was a Drill Instructor in the Marine Corp and is buried at the Marine base in Hawaii. My son, brother-in-law, uncles, cousins and many friends were in the US Military. I salute them all for their service!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I visited a couple of weeks ago. There are 2 other crash sites within a mile or so of this. One is a Lancaster, and a few hundred yards away is a C-47. The saddest part is the stories behind the crashes. The b-29 here only needed a minimal crew for the flight, however, the aircraft was visiting an American base, which had all kinds of items, snacks etc from their home, so the full crew of 13 men decided to climb aboard to visit. Unfortunately they never made it, as the plane crashed on its descent into the base.

I think it's a remarkable testament to respect in memory to those who lost their lives as many other sites of such things were for want of a better word pillaged .

As an American and on behalf of the American people; I want to thank you for respecting and honoring the ones who died on that plane. Thank you.

This video made an big impression with me. My father piloted a B117 bomber during WWIII. He and his crew were lucky enough to come home. He had unbelievable stories to tell.

This is bitter sweet for me. I lost an uncle in WWII and had other family members involved in it as well. Sad that they lost their lives over such an evil person. But so sweet that people haven’t forgotten them and leaving markers for them.
Thank you Si for sharing.

Not taking anything is a huge sign of respect, I love u leaving history the way it was meant to stay, people’s ancestors would be proud

Nice short Si, the B29 program was more expensive than the Atomic bomb to develop.
At first they thought it was not worth the BILLIONS spent developing, but Curtis LeMay bulldoged the problem and started having success.

What a horrific plane crash. This is such a good reminder of the sacrifices our men, their families and friends made for the freedoms we all so take for granted .

That’s amazing to be able to still see this site. Awesome tribute to the men who lost their lives there.

What’s amazing is it’s still there! Here in the USA someone would have stolen it to sell as souvenirs or such. Good on you brits !
