Photochromic lenses, which change from clear to tinted in sunlight, have been around for decades. Now a group of researchers at Georgia Tech has developed a polymer coating that can change its color instantly with just a small electrical current.

That means no more waiting for your glasses to turn to shades; all you'd have to do is push a button.

The biggest problem I have with transition lenses is that they don't work in the car (behind the UV blocking windshield). This sounds like great technology.
