The economy should serve people. Not the other way round.

At the moment, economic policies serve only the capital owners. We need policies that serve everyone.

We must look beyond GDP and growth to something that really matters: life.

Next week at our Beyond Growth 2023 Conference, MEPs from 5 political groups, high-level academics & policy-makers from EU institutions will be debating how to make that happen.

The only problem is a tiny percentage of the 8B people produce products that includes new technologies, food, medicine and defense for 8B. If that tiny group decreases production, reduces GNP…it won’t affect the tiny self sufficient percentage of people producing for the rest of the world…it will cause famine, disease, and wars… for the majority of the 8B who are only alive (because they get things free) because of the tiny minority. This poor majority have no skill sets, no electricity, no economy, and are run by dictators. Who takes care of the majority of the 8B if you stop producing?
How much famine and disease is acceptable. And can the earth continue to support 8B humans? The poor people demand more of the earth’s resources, they want their GNP to go up…since they claim they have no GNP. Why should they get more???
