I look at GPE of devices as test beds. A "lets look and see if there is a ton of interest in android in this form factor". If they sell then they can move more towards stock android. If not, back to our skin. It seems as geeks and bloggers hate a lot of the skins and make the most noise but these manufacturers at the end of the day want to sell to the mass market not a small group of tech enthusiasts. GPE editions are a way for them to cement what they want to use going forward.

18:25 What makes a GPe not a Nexus?  It's completely different software that just looks different, right?  The Samsung GPe is written atop TouchWiz framework, HTC atop Sense, etc.  Did LG not do that?
