Howdy from Clute, TX – the hub of the Brazosport Area & home of The Great Texas Mosquito Festival! Located 55 miles southeast of Houston, Clute is a small city with big time action! #visitclutetexas #greattexasmosquitofestival #cityofclute @clutevisitorsbureau
Start your day off at Asiel’s Restaurant. Named after the mammoth skull discovery back in 2006, this restaurant will have you loaded up for the day. Try the Donut Burger – stacked with two donut buns, one burger patty, bacon, and cheddar cheese.
After that, learn about the wildlife that lives around us at the Center of Arts and Sciences. Marvel at the beautiful butterfly collection and set your eyes on one of the 20,000 seashells on display at the “Jewels of the Sea” exhibit.
Then, make sure to mark your calendar for The Great Texas Mosquito Festival! Why mosquitos, you ask? What started out as a playful way to make a name for themselves, ended up taking on a life of its own. Now locals celebrate the pesky bug with an annual three-day festival.
Join in the fun every year with a BBQ cookoff, cornhole and washers’ competition or enter the Mosquito Calling and Mosquito Legs contest. Don’t forget to snap a photo with Mascot Willie-Man-Chew, the world’s largest mosquito.
