Cheerson - CX-33C (Y6 Tricopter) - Review and Flight

This is technically a hexacopter in the "Y6" configuration, though I think it's fair to call it a tricopter, since it has three arms and has the appearance of a tricopter.

Hello Ryan, Many thanks for the great review of the Cheerson CX-33! I really like how you described it and the test flight you did with it.
I've owned the CX-33S, 5.8ghz FPV version of this hexacopter for about 5 months now and really enjoy flying it. The altitude hold mostly works, although it seems a bit skewed at times. I still use it and also fly it in the manual mode where it seems to be a bit more stable.

I really like the Y6 tricopter configuration on it and it makes it unique to just about everything in its class. Likle a few of your comments said, it is more of a "camera bird" than a sport flyer. I think if you keep that in mind you won't be disapointed. I'm glad I bought mine and would recommend it to just about anyone who wanted something in a different configuration from the rest.

I purchased one around 3 or so months ago. It was unique flying. I had to heat and bend the prop guards to keep them out of the props. I mounted the bottom guards only. My experience was that the landing gear is too short. The motors are real fragile. On my 5th flight I got too crazy with it, in a gusty wind, and brushed a ceder bush in front of my house. One of the top motor shafts bent slightly and bound up the motor so it wouldn't spin freely. I kind of liked the bird except, as you said, it doesn't have a sporty feel. The brushed motors aren't robust at all!. For that reason I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who really likes to fly and crash occasionally. Good review.

I have this Ryan the reason i bought it was for photo shooting not sporty flying...You never know they might bring one out for just that...Also just do the battery door mod and cut the corner of for the wires it works a treat no need to ever take out the battery you can charge it with it in then.
