The descendants of a LONG line of pure-blood wizards, the Malfoys have long pulled the monetary puppet strings, playing a significant role in shaping the power dynamics and societal norms within the magical community.

From their impressive ancestral home to their penchant for dark magic and discriminatory ideologies, it’s safe to say that the Malfoys have left an indelible and controversial mark on the wizarding world.

Come to think of it..Stain might be a better word to use.

Draco Malfoy: repaired the vanishing cabinet that brought Death Eaters onto Hogwarts grounds. Lucius Malfoy: threw away one of Voldemort’s horcruxes, lost the prophecy, burned some tents at the Quiddich World Cup.

So, to sum up:
1. Unlike some families (like the Gaunts and the Blacks) the Malfoy have always been very, very level-headed, down-to-earth and practical
2. Unlike most families (again like the Gaunts) they managed not only preserve but increase their wealth even when business with muggles ended
3. Thanks to their rationality, they managed to survive and preserve their status during the War of the Roses and later political chaos
4. Their allegiance stayed the same thorought 10 centuries and never changed, their loyalty to the family.
5. Their attutude to blood purity has never been about magical status, but status in general and they never paid attention to it when it mattered (Snape and Lucius were genuine friends)
6. The level of violence during Middle-ages was nothing different to the average in the world
7. They were never really power hungry, caring more about preservation of their own
8. The real villian in the series is not actually Voldemort, but the Statute of Secrecy, which made appearance of extremists (the Weasleys are as extremist in the views as the Malfoys, really) inevitable. Voldie was its product, really

So, I'd say this is a very good approach, all in all.
Whoever the King is today, the Manor is a thousand years old and must stand.

I have a question for you about a theory. What would’ve happened in the chamber of secrets if Gildaroy Lockheart had gotten Harry’s wand instead and had cast a memory charm on Ron and Harry? Ginny would’ve died and Voldemort basically would’ve come back and two Voldemort’s would’ve been running around. Just curious what your thoughts would be on this.

Also, a theory I had for why Harry was considered to be good for Slytheran not because he had the personality but because the Sorting Hat could sense Voldemort’s piece of soul in him, making him a candidate for Slytheran house.
