There are 3 because if you thought it was 4 on of the ends would be missing on the right side, but if you thought it was 3 you could clearly see 3 ends on both sides. (you might only be able to see AT LEAST 3 ends on both sides) The 3 sides on the left create the illusion of 4 board ends, but in reality there are only 3 boards. 6:45
