Astronomers detect ‘planet killer’ asteroid crossing earth’s orbit

Australia's astronomer-at-large Fred Watson says there is “no immediate threat” to the planet as the asteroid intends to cross earth’s orbit.

“This asteroid is about one and a half kilometres in diameter … it is only a 10th of the diameter of the one that wiped out the dinosaurs,” Mr Watson told Sky News Australia.
