Hare Krishna, bhakti yoga can elevate any person no matter how fallen a person is either by incidental fall or inherent faults. devotees don't justify any sinful activities in the name of devotion. Krishna's love and spiritual protection is evident in this section. Krishna tells Arjuna to declare that His devotees will never perish. thank you.

Thank you Prabhuji. More direct call by Krishna to practice bhakti-yoga. Engage your mind always in thinking of Me, become My devotee, worship Me, offer obeisances to Me. Surely you will come to Me being thus completely absolved in Me. In 9.31 Krishna gives an assurance to the devotees that My devotees will never perish.

What I had learned before is that your varna is not determined by birth. This video makes things clearer though. It says that varna is largely determined by the psychophysical nature you were born into. This does not mean that born in a family with varna XYZ means your varna is XYZ automatically also. Also, it is not for society to label which leads to discrimination (in the negative connotation of the word). Explanation around 42:19
