'The Zone': Phoenix city officials to start cleanup efforts on May 10

The cleanup effort on May 10 will focus on a portion of the homeless encampment in the area of 9th Avenue, between Washington and Jefferson Streets. This comes after a judge ruled that the City of Phoenix must keep the area free of homeless people. FOX 10's Lindsey Ragas has more on the cleanup, as well as concerns people in the area have.

I called shelters when I needed somewhere to stay. I was told that they were packed and to call back everyday to see if there was an opening but I'd be put on a list and notified when it was my turn. WE NEED LEGITIMATE SOLUTIONS NOT BANDAIDS

Yep today ust started getting a bunch of homeless people hanging out at the bus stop by my apartment in Tempe again ...For a few years I hardly would see.any homeless people...im assuming cause they had the streets downtown with tents..but looks like its gonna go back to trash everywhere, syringes, foil, smell of fentanyl ..why doesnt the city start like a slab city on the outskirts of town! Designate a piece of land to where they can set up tents..

they need to lower rent and make affordable housing for these people . not everyone is a drug addict . some people have fallen on hard times and have no choice . arizona needs to bring down rent for people and help these people get back on their feet

The drug addiction is a very strong hold and it’s such a challenge to help the ones who’s crippled by drug addictions. Not everyone on the streets are drug addicts there on the streets because of high cost of living that many cannot afford. Build more low-income housing and help people to further their education and help them to locate jobs and other things that can help them to become more self dependent.
