How to merge multiple illustrator files

I'll show you how to install and use this free script to merge multiple illustrator files into one new document. I've no doubt it will save you so much time, and after years of having to open, copy and paste several files I'm so pleased I found this.

Download the Ai Merge script here:

The folder named “en_GB” indicates English UK language which of course may differ, for example, German would read as “de_DE”).

Windows Installation Folder for scripts
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2020\Presets\en_GB\ Scripts

Mac OS Installation Folder for scripts (en_GB indicates language this may differ)
Macintosh HD▸ Applications▸ Adobe Illustrator 2020▸ Presets▸ en_GB▸Scripts

Hey gary got a question mate when you click on the ai merge right, what format is the artboard height and width using? Cm, Inch or Mm?

This does not work for me. :( I have identical files for a bunch of labels. I put in the exact size of the artboard and the layout gets messed up.

Hi. Really Thank you for developing that script and make it for free. It working all Nicely. But In my illustrator. it create more empty artboards too. Ex. if there are 114 svg elements it create 114 artboards and another emplty 114 artboard too. all 228 artboard. it happen every time. double artboards. ones with elements and it create another empty artboards too. Can I know how i fix that.

This didn't work for me because I had multiple artboards (2) in my ai files. It only took the first one. I ended up opening small batches of 25 of my 74 files in illustrator and using the script to SaveDocAsPDF all at once. It was very quick and I just merged my pdfs to get 148 page pdf. Otherwise this would have been great.

Thank you! But is there a way to put the files into some order? When i import them like this they are placed randomly
