Building the T-X for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines - Behind the Scenes

In Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, the more powerful Terminator is a Terminatrix, or T-X, played by Kristanna Loken, with a cool detachment reminiscent of Robert Patrick's T-1000 in Terminator 2.

Beneath her human skin, T-X's shiny, black endoskeleton is covered by a liquid metal that makes her capable of shape-shifting, just as her male counterpart in Terminator 2 did. But whereas we only saw the T-1000 fashion blades and knives from his metallic substructure, this liquid metal terminator is able to transform her right arm into a plasma gun or buzz saw, and her index finger into a high-tech drill bit.

No matter what people think of the movie, the TX really was a superb Terminator robot. I love the part at the end when her face reappeared on the damaged endo and she was screaming like an animal, or when she was in the magnetron, and the mimetic polyalloy was pouring off her. I absolutely love the insectoid look, in that aspect, there's almost a "Giger" quality to her design, the curves of a beautiful woman rendered in black chrome, with cold blue accents. As far as I'm concerned, Stan Winston knocks another Terminator design right out of the park, and into the next county. Her mouth "unit" was creepy too, with insect like mandibles.

What a treat it must have been to work with Mr. Winston. We never realize what treasures we have until they are gone.

Gotta admire a movie that gives room to practical effects

That's so amazing! The combination of Rod puppetry and radio controlled animatronics is just perfect. I especially love the buzzsaw and hand drill❤

An AMAZING behind the scenes video of the T-X, an often underrated and overlooked villain. Thank you for sharing this! The fans appreciate it!
If, in the future, you have any further behind the scenes footage for the Terminatrix, please post it. We are eternally grateful to the Stan Winston School!

I don't know what you guys think but.... Sometimes I feel like entertainment with each passing year they leave less compelling results than before and a creative bankruptcy is evident.

Terminator 3 was a hated movie at the time. But we've reached a point of no return that you honestly ask for those bad sequels to come back that aren't the worst anymore knowing that they released far, far worse movies (Dark Fate).

Seeing the design of the T-X and the work behind it. Even of how bad the movie was, I can feel that even in that year of filming they had more love for the franchise than what they did with Dark Fate.

The T-X reminds me Chloe Bourgeois from Miraculous Ladybug
