These Särmä Outdoor Pants are made for use in somewhat rougher climates and terrain, but are comfortable and subdued enough for casual street use. These are not your regular lightweight pants for sunny hikes on easy trails, but made from a strong canvas to take a beating without a flinch.

A good pair of utility & outdoor trousers
Thick 65/35% polycotton fabric
Elastane in strategic spots
The maximum waist size will stretch about 2 cm (0.8") upwards!
The next question is, are these comfortable to wear on the move and can you slav-squat? The answer to both is a resounding "YES!". Thanks to articulated knees, a crotch gusset and a high-cut backside, these pants won't hold you back.

Breathability and mobility are further improved by a 4-way stretch material we used at the crooks of knees, crotch gusset and below the waistband. You can think of the main material as an armor plate and the soft stretchy stuff is the chain mail.

Practical and comfy features
We designed these to look good, but only after getting the cut and details where we wanted to. The pockets are not numerous, but much smarter: stuff wont’ fall out of the front pockets and the cargo pockets don’t rob space from your thighs. Here’s a list of the nice things:
CUT AND DETAILS
Articulated knees
Stretchy crotch gusset
Reinforced knees and seat
Double reinforced inner cuff
Stretchy waist
Snap-fastener adjustment tabs at the cuffs
Large and strong belt loops fitting belts up to 50 mm / 2"
Loops for hook suspenders
POCKETS
Deep front pockets with high-cut opening
Large cargo pockets with bellows and folding mouth
Zippered mesh vents behind cargo pockets
Cell phone pocket behind right cargo pocket
Material and care
The primary material is a durable 65/35% poly-cotton canvas, which is a type you might find on bags and such. Double fabric layers on the knees and ass.
Secondary material: 4-way stretch 92/8 % polyester-elastane. Very breathable and comfortable.
Some color may transfer from the product before the first wash. Close all zippers and snap-fasteners before machine wash in 40° C / 104 F.

Mate, I’m in full Sarma gear today 😉 The cargo trousers (not the outdoor one like yours) and a merino wool polo shirt. I was wearing my windproof smock earlier. Why can’t Fjallraven make their stuff, which is similar quality AND made in Taiwan or Bangladesh to this price range?

The whole range is amazballs to be honest been living in their stuff since they started producing. My wife nicked the windproof smock though

Just got a pair of these on your recommendation. Mentioned to Varusteleka about this video and how it had influenced me and they said that you are a good guy. High praise indeed!

Great review, I wear Fjallraven trousers a lot, and the reason is they are quick drying after getting lashed on. I’ll definitely be getting a pair of the Sarma trousers on the back of this review. Nice one

I have been wearing a pair Varestuleka Särmä trousers / anorak on my weekend of canoeing and camping for about two years now and just ordered a 2nd pair of pants super comfortable strong. I live in Colorado USA and after I bought the Pukko 110 and fell in love with this company. I can’t figure out why good quality gear is so expensive here in the states. So no I just buy from the guys Varestuleka shipping is only $9.95 it’s worth the wait.great review mate cheers from Colorado.

Try the Tru Spec Xpedition pants. The Tru Specs and the Sarmas are copies of the Fjallraven Keb. Having tried the keb, I actually like the Tru Specs more (and they're like a quarter of the price). Might have to try these at some point.

Lol. I ordered a sarma anorak after your review and I ordered a pair of these sarma pants a week ago, not here yet but I intend for them to do what I use my Fjallraven pants for at 3 times the cost roughly.

Is it only 'Guys' that like this channel? Please tell me that Females in NI are interested in Bushcraft?
From an elderly irish lass in Johannesburg, SA. Love your channel & I am one of the 'guys' promoting Bushcrafting in Africa. Westernisation has killed this craft. Sadly, most want to live within the money hugger shopping malls, status homes & vehicles etc.
Thank U from an elderly irish lady

Woooly I might roll the dice in these, they have limited stock and are to be discontinued. I’ve never ordered from here and these will be my first outdoor pants. Please help me with the sizing it’s cabbaging my head, even with the imperial calculator on site lol

I need a W42, its works out to be an XL on the site, surely that can’t be right. I’d be at least a 2 or 3xl..?? Please help…!!

Hello, came across your channel, checking for the Varestuleka Särmä anorak... loving your content. How would you compare the Varusteleka Särmä outdoor pants tot the " Garphyttan Fixar Trouser"? Which would you prefer?
cheers !!!

I've tried these pants and anoraks from Sarma and and all of them failed relatively quick. Decent stuff but nothing wow. Made in China. Yes, it's cheap but quality and confort wise are way below Fjallraven. You just can't compare the two, and this is reflected in the price you are paying for it. If you are playing survival man in the park, dressed up in green, than yes, Sarma is for you.

Stupid question herę: what color are those? Because on my phone they look neither green nor black. Do does the black fade/gets dirty quickly or the green is darker than I be seen on vt site?

What about those vs the forclaz pants?

Fjällräven ain't too good, really. It's very hit or miss, where at least the down jackets are good, but range around 450-800 euro, and for that price you might as well go Swazi.

The pants from fjällräven are basically just glorified normal "outdoor" pants, you can get much better pants, or even something like Beretta hunting pants with Gore-Tex and mesh lining for the same price, works great in wintertime as well as autumn/early spring in Sweden.

TL;DR is - don't buy fjällräven anything, hard maybe on jackets. Overall it's just expensive. It's marketing.

This is just my personal take on it, having owned multiple jackets and pants. The general take here in Sweden is that they're just "for people with too much money"

Anyone else get bent over by the import tax man?

I'm returning the pair I got. Absolutely loved them but the buttons kept coming undone as they were too weak, and stitching failing around fixings after a month or so of light use. Great design, great materials, very poorly executed. Varusteleka also sold me a neck scarf about half the length depicted on their website, again great material, shame about the bs. I won't buy from them again which is a shame but I can't throw money away
