When Tyson said “ You have to go” I got up and left my house.

Can we appreciate the fact that the interviewer apologized for bringing it up and told Mike that it's ok to cry

Mad respect for the reporter, he actually felt guilt because of what happened, unlike most soulless reporters

"I gotta grow up it's tough... I gotta be a man, and stop crying" - Mike Tyson

The interviewer was extremely respectful and understanding.

"You're allowed to cry, Mike"

I work with a 55 year old man who loose his son 30 years ago and when he told me the story he cried his eyes out. Imagine how tough it is to loose a child that 30 years later he still feels the pain.

“I gotta grow up, it’s tough. I got to be a man and stop crying” damm that’s coming from one of the baddest men on the planet.

At my 15yo cousins funeral, the pastor said:
"If you lose your partner, you become a widow or widower.
If you lose your parents, you become an orphan.
But when you lose a child, there is no word for it."

That shit went deep.

What shocked me was how respectful the interviewer was. He showed genuine guilt for bringing it up and was really respectful when telling mike how he was allowed to cry, wish more interviewers were like him.

Mike, I cried along with you. My 19 year old daughter was killed by a drunk driver in 1995. In 2023 my heart still hurts.

My dad died unexpectedly at age 50. My grandpa (his father) was never the same after that. Grandpa lived 12 more years and he never seemed to be over it. Outliving a son or daughter must be the worst feeling.

The fact that this guy is still alive and has changed himself is the biggest win of his entire life. Nothing but respect for him

He handled it better than I did. I was a blackout drinker, everyday, for 4 years. The pain still haunts me

My brother passed away at 18, and I’ll never forget what my mom said, “there is nothing more painful than losing a child.”
