In this video tutorial you can learn about broken text effect, it can be used for websites or logos. It is very simple to create.

In first step type a word with strong headline font and then draw multiple lines cross over the text. Select both text and lines. Go to Type menu and select create outlines OR Shift + Ctrl + O.
Next, go to pathfinder and select “Divide”. Now you can breaking up and separate the object visually. Until, you feel happy about the overall look.
