A friend of mine worked at Goodwill and someone donated a deer carcass from hunting season. It was all chopped up in trash bags and they had to call the police to make sure it wasn't a body. This was, of course, a Goodwill located in Wisconsin.

I had the same job. It's safe to say that about 70% of donations go straight into the dumpster.

Yeah, I used to work at a goodwill that was right between a Bourgie neighborhood and a shitty one, so one day we’d get a donation of a 1970’s Tiffany lamp, and the next we’d have a crackhead stealing catalytic converters in our parking lot.

Broke my coffee pot last week tripping over the car engine in my kitchen, Goodwill had the same pot for my coffee maker for 2 bucks. Way better then buying another 60 dollar machine.

Worked at their e-commerce department it was terrible. They have massive infestation issues tons of trash, vomit/filth I would never bring anything into my house that came from Goodwill. We’ve had customers complain about termites and all sorts of discussing things at their house now has because they bought it from Goodwill. In lieu of raises they’ll just give you an extra vacation day here and there. Also, they’re one of the places that freak out if you go one minute on overtime. It’s disturbing how poorly they treat their physically and mentally disabled employees which they deliberately hire for that reason.

Worked with charity donations, had unbelievable stuff donated. Dirty hairbrushes with hair in them were my favorite - and, yes, I used plural because it happened often from different "donors". Then there were the dirty ladies underwear with old blood stains (I kid you not), broken toys, half coloured in colouring books, filthy clothes reeking of about 40 years of cigarette smoke... some people just empty drawers into trash bags and call it a donation.

I worked the donation door at Goodwill for about a year and it was a miserable experience. People really didn't like hearing that we would not take the cat shredded piss stained couch that was good enough for their family until they were given a newer couch... one guy tried to donate 3 yard waste bags full of wet muddy clothes from some sort of tough mudder competition and he got pissed when I told him no. He went inside and tried to complain to management but they took one look at the clothes and said hell no!

Craziest thing we got when I was a manager for goodwill is a gimp suit, one of the guys (what a character, this guy) put on the mask (only the mask) and hella people took pictures of him. Wasn't while I was on shift but I did see the picture. He was also our donation guy.

I’ve also worked as a donations attendant for goodwill. Separated stuff into all kinds of categories idk wtf he’s talkin about with hard and soft 🤣 also would test electronics, clean up and make minor repairs to furniture and price it. Job was definitely not worth it at 7.25/hr but if it paid at least halfway decent it would be an ok job I guess. Hell I’d even say it’s fun if you got cool coworkers. Sometimes I’d ride with this 60-somethin year old trucker named Barry to take shit to other stores and he was always an interesting character to be around. Still quote that guy to this day now that I’m thinking about it 😂
