CRUZE p0299 and P1101 code fixes Dave's World Super CRUZES

P0299 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that indicates a low turbocharger or supercharger boost pressure. Here are some possible causes of the P0299 code:1. Faulty turbocharger wastegate solenoid2. Malfunctioning or defective turbocharger3. Intake air leaks or other pressure system malfunctions4. Clogged air filter or restricted air flow

1. Faulty MAF sensor: The mass airflow sensor (MAF) measures the amount of air entering the engine and sends this information to the engine control module (ECM). A faulty MAF could cause the P1101 code to appear.

2. Vacuum leaks: Any leaks in the vacuum system can cause the P1101 code. Air leaks in the vacuum system could cause a reduction in pressure in the engine, leading to poor fuel economy.

3. Faulty throttle body: The throttle body controls the amount of air entering the engine and is controlled by the ECM. A faulty throttle body could cause the P1101 code to appear.

4. Intake air leaks: Any air leaks in the intake system could cause the P1101 code as it disrupts the proper air-fuel mixture. The leaks could be in the hoses, gaskets, or intake manifold.

5. Faulty ECM: If the ECM is not communicating properly with the MAF sensor, it could cause the P1101 code.

6. Dirty air filter: A dirty air filter could also cause the P1101 code by obstructing the air flow into the engine.

It is important to have a qualified mechanic diagnose and repair the issue that caused the P1101 code to avoid further damage to the engine.

I don't log into a lot of services if I can help it and I don't really do reviews but I wanted to get on here and let people know Dave was very helpful. He built me a couple great parts and even called me back when I had questions. Nowadays it's hard to get even local companies to provide customer service at times, let alone someone from across the country, so I really appreciated it. He and his wife are a great team helping people out with their cars. This wastegate is a must even if you don't throw a code; it allows the car to finally accelerate normally. I've spent 7 years with such sluggish performance that it was dangerous to pull out into traffic at times especially on hot, humid days. Code is gone and the car at least gets out of the way now. Thanks again!

You have perfectly explained underboost problem diagnosis. I hope I had specialists like you in my neighbourhood!

Dave texted me back within 1 minute, helped troubleshoot my cruze and got me setup with a new wastegate 10/10.

Thank you. I’ve been having a lot of issues with my 2018 Chevy cruise. It keeps throwing those 2 codes. I get reduced engine power and when that happens it’s like driving a slug. My C0299-00 code says large vacuum leak in the brake booster. But as brakes go mine is fine I believe. I thought this probably has no issue with the brakes but must be for some other component. I am going to go home now and check all of those things you mentioned. My husband says it’s more like I hit a bump that’s knocking something loose. My biggest issue is it’s the only car I have and this week I start a new job which I’ll be driving around my region from town to town to merchandise in a chain of grocery stores. I live in the middle so most days I’ll have a 45 minute to an hours drive to a store and my car has to run correctly. I’d just say screw it and go trade her in but since Covid has ruined everything I’d built up like credit and financial well-being, it’s super hard to do much of anything. It’s been super difficult and last week I changed out my MF Sensor because my OBD2scanner kept saying it was faulty. That worked for about a day or two then the check engine light keeps coming on periodically. My husband helped me and put my hoses back on after we cleaned the throttle body and stuff but forgot to tighten everything down as we were running a bit late and he thought I did it and I thought he had done it. So tightened those and ran great for a good week but now a bunch of those codes keep popping up so I’m going to check what you said and will be contacting you to get some things and fix my car once and for all. Thank you. You are very easy to understand and I subscribed to your page as well.

On the Gen 1 Cruze there was an issue with the PCV Valve do Gen 2 Cruzes have this issue as well I've looked for it but I can't find anything on it. It always refers back to the video you did with the PCV fix on black widow

Great video showing propper fixes to the p0299 issue. Ive currently got that code but CEL is intermittent. Cruising in 5/6 gear with minimal throttle input causes a major lack in boost untill i restart the car. Then it goes away. That's been my summer. Praying it goes away until i can do something about it. And i just found this video. I'll be reaching out to you my friend 🤜

Not saying this is the right thing to do, but I've had a p0299 code and it was my turbo wastegate was seized *the little swivel got stuck in certain spots* so I sprayed PD Blaster around it and it fixed it (for time being, still driving, but no more check engine light) but if someone's in a crunch, it'll free it up right away.

Great video, Dave. I need to get a charge pipe. Does upgrading the charge pipe require a tune update? I assume it would, but I'm not sure. I was just thinking about this two days ago.Great video

Thank you so much for this. Just have one last thing to check before I try replacing the wastegate. And if I do it will likely be your upgraded one.

I just ordered the air inlet and outlet pipes for my equinox from you and if I have any more issues with the intercooler I'll probably get your upgraded one. I really can't fault the stock intercooler as it had no control over the semi that flung the tote into it at 50 mph. I just want to drive without boost leaks until the wheels fall off with a little better than stock performance.

Hi, love this video!! Very helpful. Wife's 2016 (gen 2) cruze popped 0299 at first, i bought her your wastegate a few weeks ago, seemed to run a bit better and it dropped the 0299, but now pops 1101 code. I think next I'll try the cheapest/easiest MAF clean, but if that doesn't work, where do you go next?
