I put one on my 1948 Deluxe bug today. Slowed it way down. I went with the Bari-speed because it’s OEM equipment. Works CW better than I do! 73

I just use a one or two oz fishing weight drilled out and fitted on a brass rod connected to the speed shaft via a short piece of brass tube, all available in the K & S display at your local hardware. You can slide the weight in or out with one hand. I don't adjust it during a QSO but it can be done. I can get down to 10 WPM with this set up. I have a VariSpeed but never liked it?

I have an old rebuilt Lightning Bug probably from the 30s-40s that is much faster than my 90s era Presentation.

Just make a longer speed shaft, and put the weight out on the other side of the damper assembly.
