This is the song that introduced me to Damien Jurado. We live next to a shopping center that has a PA system that plays music. During the pandemic, I would sometimes take my dog on walks through the shopping center, and I realized at one point that the music playing was a playlist on an endless loop that continued for more than a year. “Percy Faith” was on that playlist, and the song (and Damien’s voice) grew on me with repeated listenings until I finally Googled the lyrics I could make out, and I landed here. It seems like this is how I discover my favorite musicians: not via recommendations from Spotify or YouTube or even another person, but from “bumping” into their music in a very random, low-tech way.
