About 3 years ago myself and my wife visited friends in large city in the UK 🇬🇧. In the evening we went out for a meal and a few drinks. We had a lovely meal and then it came time to pay. We split the bill 50/50 and my friend paid his half by card no problem…I then offered the member of staff cash to cover my half. She said we don’t accept cash…did you not see the sign ? I genuinely hadn’t seen the sign as it was a tiny little thing behind the bar not in a prominent position at all. I said I’ve only got cash so you’ll have to take it…she said I’ll fetch the Manager. This young lad appeared at the table and started to lecture me about cash blah blah blah and said if I don’t pay by card he would call the Police. My friend said he would pay my half and I could give him the cash but I said no way I’m not backing down. The Manager did not like this and said he was calling the Police. I said that’s fine but tell them to be quick as I’m leaving very soon…his face was a picture lol…he hadn’t got a clue what to do. I stood up and said take this cash or I’m leaving without paying…he said that would be the same as theft. I started to move from the table and he said ok I’ll take your cash. I’m really not an awkward person but sometimes you need to stand your ground. I saw all this cashless society stuff coming years ago. By the way I still use cash almost everywhere now £££ 👍🇬🇧

Considering the implication of an outage or downtime, this is a horrible idea. Imagine an outage and nobody has access to money. How can anyone think this is a good idea? What about the huge swath of the population that isn't tech savvie and their survival depends on them learning how to interact with these wallets? All it will take is one outage or period of downtime for the pitchforks to come out.

Trade, barter, swap, share.
Use cash.
Know your neighbours.
Buy silver and/or gold in what ever forms you can.
Get rid of any surveillance tech (anything that says 'Smart'), if you need a phone, keep it stored in a faraday cage (anything metal and insulated (cardboard) will do); that includes anything with 'Bluetooth' or connected.
Get in shape. Grow/produce some of your own food. Don't buy or eat processed food. Buy food from farmers (go in with others).

I tried to clue a friend in telling her point blank when she was lamenting the price of eggs and milk - that “they” are trying to devalue and get rid of the dollar and move towards a digital currency that they can have more control over people.

She was quiet and changed the subject.

It’s beyond frustrating they WILL get away with this because the average person is not connecting the dots.

This will dramatically change the standard of living for most people, when I was young, International travel was something for the very rich, recreational activities were camping and the occasional activity. Food was largely stews, pasta and casseroles. One car, one TV, sharing a bedroom etc.
