English translation:
I am pleased to receive you on behalf of CENEU and Universidad Xochicalco. It will be a pleasure to accompany you on the excellent tour that awaits us. Come with me… Welcome to Universidad Xochicalco! Oh, but this is the Tijuana campus. Let's go to Ensenada!
But first… welcome to Tijuana! Tijuana not only represents the northernmost point in Mexico, but it is the border between and entry point into Latin America from the United States. This is why it has positioned itself as the busiest international border around the world. It is part of the Cali-Baja region, a region of profound commercial and cultural exchange between the U.S. state of California and Baja California in Mexico. A few blocks from Avenida Revolución is the Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT), one of most prominent cultural centers dedicated to the exhibition of notable artworks in the northwestern region of Mexico. Just south of Rosarito, in the town of Popotla, is one of the most well-known sites in the modern history of our state: Baja Studies, formerly Fox Studios (as it was owned by the film company. This property was designed and built in 1996 exclusively for the filming of the movie "Titanic" by director James Cameron. Subsequently, it hosted the filming of other films such as "Pearl Harbor", "Master and Commander”, and the television series "Fear The Walking Dead".
Let’s continue down the tourist route- Tijuana, Playas de Rosarito, Ensenada. Once in the vicinity of Ensenada we find a large and lavish housing complex of the Baja Mar port, comprised of 3 residential areas and a hotel. In addition to three golf courses that host important annual tournaments, the Isla de Todos Santos (All Saints’ Island) is located approximately 19 km west of the coast of the port of Ensenada and is one of the most popular natural attractions of the port. Local tours are held for participants to discover this uninhabited island, but access requires an official permit.
Another of the great tourist attractions of Ensenada and perhaps the most popular today is the Ruta del Vino (Wine Route of Valle de Guadalupe), located 45 km from the city. This rural area offers more than 150 wineries, boutique concept hotels and restaurants that offer signature gastronomy with characteristic dishes of what’s now known as Baja-Mex cuisine. The Guadalupe Valley and its surroundings have positioned themselves as a gastronomic epicenter to such an extent that that the Federal Secretary of Tourism declared it the National Wine Route and the second favorite destination for Mexicans. In addition, the quality of its amenities is well-known internationally, as it has been compared to the Napa Valley’s Wine Country and has been featured in numerous magazines, such as "Elle", "Travel Plus Leisure", etc.
Finally, we’ve arrived at our final destination, Ensenada. Also known as the "Cinderella of the Pacific", it is the largest municipality in the state and was the first political capital of Baja California. It is currently one of our most attractive areas for national and international tourism due to its diversity of climates and landscapes that in turn allow for many recreational activities, whether inside the city, its surroundings, visiting its valleys, sierras and beaches, or even on a fishing tour. And it is also from the sea that the two most characteristic dishes of Ensenada originate: the fish taco and fish ceviche.
Originally, Universidad Xochicalco began its activities in 3 classrooms, 2 laboratories and an operating room. Now, we have various workshops and laboratories, including Anatomage rooms on all 3 campuses and of course the Clinical Simulation Learning Center of the Ensenada Campus School of Medicine, unique in the region, in addition to our amphitheaters that house a great diversity of events and a residential complex with 96 double rooms for foreign students.
Currently, the Universidad Xochicalco School of Medicine is the most prestigious in the region and is an excellent option both for young Baja Californians as well as for students from Baja California Sur, Sonora, Sinaloa and even from the state of California in the U.S. Today, the School of Medicine transcends not only geographical but also technological borders by adding a new specialized course to its academic catalogue with the Medical Spanish Immersion Program, designed for medical professionals from the United States who work with Spanish-speaking patients. Universidad Xochicalco is proud to receive you in our home, because from today onwards you will always be part of the great Xochicalco community. Welcome!
