Another cool tip: If you are doing a side job that gives a phone number, you can call the phone number in your appartment, check the call logs from your building to see where the call went, then check the call logs in the building where you call went to to further narrow down which appartment.

A few tips for filling out profiles efficiently: You will be able to fill out most of a person's profile by visiting their workplaces. Somewhere in the workplace, there will be a drawer or cabinet with employee files, this will give you most information, but not all.
Another fun tip, if you want to investigate a workplace during the day, speak to the receptionist and ask for a guest pass. Sure, you'll have to pay a bit, but the information is worth it.
Thirdly, relevant to above, if you want to access a room with a lock while you have a pass, or if you want to sidetrack anyone inside and sneak in there, just knock on the door. It will make the an NPC stop what they are doing, after a bit, and open it for you. Useful for getting into security rooms of businesses.
Fourth tip: Keep an eye out for pass codes, and if you ever find one, don't be afraid to use it where you can. If you fill out a pass code at least once, it will automatically fill any time after.
And, finally, my favourite little trick. If you see someone working on their computer, you can disrespect their personal space, sit on their lap, and use it yourself. They don't actually care, they just let you do your own thing, but from the computers, you can access their profiles, which gives a bit of bonus information compared to the employee records, specifically address and passcode. Feel free to use the passcode on their locker if they have one, or even log them out and log them back in.
I hope my wall of tips helps any would-be detectives out there.

As an alternative to selling stuff at pawn shops, you can also simply drop your pilfered goods on the floor of your apartment and sell them in the Decor menu.

The "Vic Mackey" maneuver in the bonus tip seems brilliant! Just another example of why the NPCs should be glad that all the Detective's violence is thus far magically non-lethal.

Random tip which I don't think a lot of people know is that if you have a number on a sheet of paper (safe codes, phone number, etc)
if you open the thing you need to type into and click the number on the page it auto types it. I don't see people do that but its very useful.

For the cameras seemingly missing a control room, sometimes that's at another address (commercial) in a private surveillance company.

This game just released on Xbox and it’s one of the most engrossing games I’ve ever played. Wish larger companies tried making such dynamic and in-depth games.

A great bug is when you inspect people and pin them you get the chance to ask the people if they know themselves. So if they are not willing to share their name with you but do share if they know someone you can ask them if they know themselves revealing their name to you.

The game doesnt tell u this but you can check incoming or outgoing phonecalls through phone routers. Its usually located in basement or outside bar. I had a case where I only have the phone number and obtained their address just by checking the phonecalls.

One thing I think I ran into that I've seen no one mention, is that the gov database ONLY seems to work for people 'in the system'.
People who are homeless don't seem to show up even if you know their name properly. Same goes for the phone directory, if they are homeless they aren't listed at all there.

Inside the apartments dont tend to have a camera instead they have a laser detector that works in the dark. Side note turning off the lights will obscure you from cameras.

The tip about having the same serial killer each unsolved case really helped me, i had like 3 cases, confused on why i couldn't get their form and all that

I absolutely love this game but even with procedural murders on i've only gotten one murder case per new game. My way of dealing with crimes is using the government database and finding where the victim worked, then seeing if I cant find the killers fingerprints there. Regardless, thank you for the tips!

another tip is that if you can find out one code in a house, then the code will almost always work for everything else in the house, such as safes and computers, Its the same for businesses except for the computers, but for businesses it would work on safes and doors

Nice video & tips.

Some tips of mine:

- The game is still pretty buggy. Saving and reloading seems to fix 90% of the bugs though, so if anything weird happens like a case step won't activate, or something is behaving weirdly, try reloading before you decide to just give up the case.
- In diners and bars, there are often employee photos on display in the common area without you needing to break in anywhere or trespass, so you may as well quickly inspect all of these photos so that later on if you encounter one of these characters in a job, you'll already have some basic information.
- You can often convince people (usually for a small sum of money) to give you a guest pass to allow you to look around their home - I think this also works for offices too. This is especially handy if their home is well secured and you don't want to deal with dodging/switching off the security system. When you have a guest pass they don't seem to mind you looking through all their stuff, and they'll only complain if you steal items directly in front of them.
- Lockpicking progress remembers the bars you've already completed. So if you encounter one of those difficult locks where you need to unlock like 8 bars, and keep getting spotted, you can just keep stopping lockpicking after a bar is complete and going back to it, minimising the time window in which you're visibly doing something illegal. Super useful if there's a camera on you that you haven't turned off too, since a single lockpicking bar is AFAIK always shorter than the time for the camera to trigger an alarm.
- If you've already broken into a business, may as well look through the employee files since they have a ton of information about every single person who works there, and you can reuse this same information later in other cases.
- Employee photos usually have the person's fingerprints on them, so if you suspect the culprit is employed somewhere but don't know which employee it is, just go up to the photo board and scan each photo for fingerprints, and you can often solve the case that way.
