Probably the best explanation on how to do uchimata. I have watched so many videos of famous judokas teaching uchimata but none of them gave a perfect breakdown like this one. I have learnt much more watching this one video than everything I have watched in the past combined.

That is what Dong hyun Kim uses a lot in his matches. I always wanted to learn this technic but didn't know the name. Thank you for the video!

From a distance he looks like a technical Tank Abbot!

Many thanks for sharing this. Now I see and understand why my uchimata keeps failing. I gotta apply more the "sumo" hip and leg extension! Can't wait to try this next time

I love how effortless Vlad makes these throws look.

The details on this a *very* well explained. Of the core throwing techniques commonly used to land someone on their back in competition, I think uchi-mata is the most difficult to learn. It takes countless hours of practice to develop the correct sense of balance to hit this move against a resisting, fast-moving target.
Vlad is teaching a hip dominant style of uchi-mata, stepping deep on the inside (instead of leg dominant style stepping deep on the outside). This method is usually preferred by the best uchi-mata specialists, like Shohei Ono, Varlam Liparteliani, and Kosei Inoue. Of course, most uchi-mata specialists (including the ones I just mentioned) can do both styles -- and more. Some uchi-mata experts may even prefer clipping with their leg instead of their hip, but it's far less common.

Thanks for this. I really value the no gi videos. I am curious about grip for no gi Harai Goshi. In this you mention the whizzer and wrist or elbow control. Can you provide similar no gi info for the Harai Goshi ? thanks!
