Collective Action for Gender Transformative Leadership: Women & Global Health Leadership Book Launch
Показать описание
"Women and Global Health Leadership" is a groundbreaking collection that explores the leadership roles that women currently play in global health, teasing out the routes that women have taken to leadership, the challenges that they have faced, and what has facilitated their journey. It brings to the fore the stories of women on the frontlines of this struggle from around the world, highlighting and complementing these stories with theoretical and analytical explorations of the structures and systems that help or hinder the process.
To celebrate this exciting book, Women in Global Health planned an initial virtual launch event on International Women’s Day, March 8th, 2022 at 8:00-9:30 AM EST.
The event was centered on gender transformative leadership in health.
Dr. Roopa Dhatt gave an introduction on women's leadership in health, followed by Dr. Rosemary Morgan who presented the book and its key messages.
Dr. Sulzhan Bali then moderated a panel discussion on how norms, institutions, and systems that prevent gender equity can be changed for the better and how women can collectively overcome those barriers.
The panel included:
-Dr. Magda Robalo, Global Managing Director of Women in Global Health
-Nuzulul Putri, Research Group for Health and Well-being of Women and Children, Faculty of Public Health at the Universitas Airlangga
-Sapna Kedia, Technical Specialist at the International Center for Research on Women
The event finished with an exciting keynote by gender advocate and global health leader, Dr. Senait Fisseha, Director of International Programs at the Susan T. Buffett Foundation.
