color theory is something I’m still learning! I should make a full length video on this 👀

To those of you who don’t really understand, it’s the way colors you think looked one way actually look different with the background of other colors, which can REALLY help improve how harmonious your art looks!

By learning color theory, I have found out that most blue colors are actually a desaturated pink

to sum up quickly, basically, you don't see things as they really are, but as they appear in relation to your surroundings. Harmony and contrast are also important here, a color that is dark becomes darker next to light colors and vice versa. Color theory is one of the most interesting things about art for me, i just love reading about it ❤🎨

A great book about this is "Interaction of color" by Josef Albers. It has lots of practical exercises to help you develop the ability to see how colors change when combined with one another. Very good!

I’d love to see an artist actually make a video that explains color theory. It remains this concept artists always say is important but if you ask them, it’s just like this video aka we still need someone to clarify what we’re looking at. We don’t need to know WHAT it is, we need to know which colors are doing what and HOW.

Color theory is fascinating and can really enhance the harmony of your art by understanding how colors interact with each other. Optical blending is the way our eyes perceive colors differently based on surrounding colors and saturation, creating interesting effects in art.

Isn’t this how color looks relative to other colors surrounding it??

Also the skin is so many colors, that part is always fun especially with colored pencil

This is actually called optical blending! It’s the way our eyes adjust lighting and perceive colors differently based on the surrounding color and saturation. It also has to do with the cones in our eyes and how it reflects colors

Isn't colour theory different from relative colour?

Everyone in these comments pretending to be smart. There's no artists here if none of you guys can tell those two colors apart. She took it from the sky. And this isn't even color theory, it's relative color or optical blending.

Excellent demonstration, Sara! I’ve seen soo many videos like this, with a rubix cube or something and it means nothing in that context! One of the clearest examples I’ve seen here.

I play a couple color puzzle games (I Love Hue and I Love Hue Too) and they’ve really opened my eyes to the way surrounding colors effect our perception of them!
