I know all too well what Hachiman's talking about. I'm a bit of an odd individual, so I naturally scare off, bore, or disgust females (and people in general), given I have enough time to show them my ugly side. I have indeed experienced these rejections many times.

It works better this way, as it will scare away and disgust people who one would likely not value (or share values) anyways and possibly leave one with people that may be able to carry out a decent conversation despite one's drawbacks, including "boring" topics and strange interests that may be defining characteristics of one's weirdness (or uniqueness, whatever you want to call it).
