This shorter Q&A style is an awesome format!

The AI yawning when u take too much time in the diplomacy screen is a good one🫡

Influence looks like a very important currency compared to diplomatic flavour.

one of the biggest problems in civ 6 is that the AI couldn't understand eurekas/inspirations, the AI couldn't understand adjacencies, the AI couldn't understand mega-yields like the vampire castle or unique improvements, and the AI really couldn't understand policy cards. This gave the player a huge advantage. So I'm encouraged to see they might have learned from that for Civ 7. The game is only interesting if the AI puts up a challenge.

I like how they did not give the AI extra settlers at the start. That allows the AI to either go tall or wide. Also means you wont always have to fight for space on the map either. This might be the first Civ game that I might actually play Deity games more than once for the achievement.

Always happy to see you new videos and get a sense of your first impressions. Hoping for a good challenge.

Very insightful video as always. I can’t wait to see your videos for the game. I’ve followed you for about 10 years now!

Yes, I remember how insane Korea would get on Deity in Civ 5. An AI running away with science was a terrifying thing. Civ 4 was a whole different ball game though.

Interesting video! Sad to hear the AI still struggles with the crisis and such. Having seen examples of the AI leaving their Commander completely unprotected in front of archers was particularly painful. That last one seems easy enough to fix. Hopefully after a few patches Deity is actually a step up from previous iterations.

That's how Firaxis understands better AI - more bonuses for the computer ... I dont belive a bit they ll fix the AI to make better decisions or control armies smarter

I'm probably going to wait a while again until I buy Civ 7. I remember waiting until like mid 2017 watching your videos until I had the feeling that I liked what Civ6 had changed. : )

I don't see how you could lump Civ4 in with the rest of them when it comes to difficulty. I find it difficult to beat immortal still yet Civ 5 took me about a month to beat Deity after watching some of your videos along with Filthy Robot. It's why I still consider Civ4 the best game and always will because let's face it, making a game so difficult to beat nowadays will just kill sales and that is all these gaming companies care about.

if you play as multiple civs how will you name your series?

in my honest opinion, I think giving AI extra bonuses is always kind of a confession that they couldn't implement better AI behavior. Small bonuses here and there are fine, but with huge ones like in this case, it's to compensate for the AI's inability to actually play anywhere close to a decent level. I get that smart AI is a really hard thing to implement, but we are 7 civs in now, and every release it's the same disappointment.

I don't know what the Sapiens mod guy (from Civ V) did with it's difficulty, but I feel it is pretty good. Shame that the devs seems to do a worse job than modders some times.

From what I've seen, an aggressive AI can easily be baited into attacking you unprepared, so you can have a war support advantage.
And getting a war done is highly beneficial.
If you have 4 cites and the AI too, a won war will max out the military victory condition.
Unlike Humankind you can just take as much as you want.

Great information about what the AI does and the advantages and problems it has.

Gosh that is a huge combat bonus for the AI, i wish they could simply make the AI play better but that is unlikely to happen. Great video, thanks.

Thanks this is exactly the video I was waiting for! I learned how to beat civ 5 deity from your channel, and after that civ 6 deity was just too easy - civ6 ai sucks at District planning and doesn't build enough units. I wonder why they went for the massive combat bonuses in civ7 but only 1 settler/founder? Maybe boosting combat strength as a human player won't be that hard? E.g. get ahead in science and level up faster, more promotions on commanders, etc or else just defend like you say. I can't wait for your first warmonger video, maybe persia -> Mongolia-> Russia as xerxes?
