I did the same years ago. After the first 15 minutes of trying the sailboat captain yelled " how deep is the water?"
Now I knew how he got stuck.

Attaching to the Spinnaker halyard was great, a lot of other folks would have just tried to pull the straight out, possibly digging the sailboat hull deeper into the sand.

Nice work! Working smarter, not harder! They owe you a beer and dinner. Mostly a beer!

Pulling the mast over is a great idea that most don't think about. I did it to save a 54 foot Cheoy Lee in the
Bahamas in 1980.

Many years ago a sailboat ran aground in front of our cabin in the early morning.
Cabin sits on a point point on the Puget Sound.. Seattle.
The tide was going out... it was going to be a minus tide.
I launched our 12ft skiff with a 6hp motor. Rigged a bridal and secured a line from them. Zig-zagging back and forth for about 30 minutes.. finally free'd them.
If they had only paid attention to the charts and tides, they would never have gotten into this situation.
If no one had seen them.. they would have been laid over, hi, and dry when the tide was fully out... and lost everything when the tide came in.
