Shastri wants a huge salary and Virat wants a puppet coach...So both gets what they want....this whole process of selecting new coach is just garbage.... India needs a coach like Brendon mucullum or like Rahul Dravid...

If Shastri get extension the whole process is a mockery, I don't think he gt the node it will be Tom moody ( other players preference also consider that's very gd point). What's the need of conducting interview give him direct extension, why fooling other applicants ( simply way to solve the probs is just elevate Shastri as team director and appoint a tactical acumen coach )

I'm surprised the panel did not bring this point under discussion that it was inappropriately placed question, with shashtri being adjacent to Kohli ! We all know that virat likes shashtri but even in the event he did not favours shashtri, he would not be in a position to say that we are looking for a new coach or so !
Secondly I feel team India needs some fresh ideas and a new coach. We had shashtri even in 2015 WC as well. You need individuals who take real stock of the team and not guys like shashtri who immaturely calls the current indian team the best ever when they were thrashed 4-1 against England! Failed to chase sub par below 200 runs target against eng n SA. Kumble was a gr8 guy, unfortunate things didn't pan out well! Interestingly not many big names have applied for the post, which perhaps reflect that they are scared that it will be virat who'll be calling the shots.. and if they differ they might lose their job as well.
On an another note, I do believe we should split the captaincy.. Rohit reads the game better also gives consistent chances to his players.. eg Pollard eventually played big dividends.. but thing is Kohli is such a proud individual that he won't be ready to play under him . Although it would serve Indian cricket better..

Yes Kohli shouldn't have voiced his opinion after saying he will only tell his opinion when or if he's asked to.
But overanalyzing his comments is just unnecessary in my opinion. Just because he says that they'll be happy to have Shastri continue as the indian coach doesn't mean he doesn't or won't like anyone else, nor does it put the applicants under any kind of pressure. It could be just a nice gesture.

I definitely think that the captains point of view has to be taken but this should not have been communicated to the Press. I also think that what Akash said should be done, but I would also like all the regular members of the Indian team for the past two years are also asked for their views.

Not just Virat, every player who has a BCCI contract need to have a say..
Who confirmed that Virat will definitely be the captain until the end of the next coach's term..
You never know who might pick up the captaincy job and the Coach is not just for the captain..

Virat didn't actually say that he wants Ravi back..he said that anything can happen, it's their decision but we have shared some good time with Ravi..and now media shows it like Virat said that he wants Ravi to continue..may be but he didn't mean that when he was answering the question

I have seen Gary throwing numerous balls to Indian team him stressing out a nets adjusting techniques of Indian players, I neva see that with Ravi Shashtri!!! May he hez a good motivational speaker but cmon there can be sessions for that. Ravi plz leave!!

I always admire Kohli has a player but not as captain the way they are handling team in pressure situations is not good, I suggest a new coach and a new captain in Shorter formats, doesn't mean kohli is a worst skipper but see Steve smith he can't be a skipper for another 2 yrs still he is scoring centuries, in my opinion Tom Moody / Mike Hesson/Gary Kirsten should be made head coach

Virat don’t have a say in selection of coach. He is the one recruiting coach of India . First he kicked out Kumble then he recruited Shashtri. Now he is again saying openly for Shashtri.
