A Closer look into 4th year of Medical School in Otago, NZ

Fourth year of medical school felt like a huge change. In this video, we will focus on the unique aspects of fourth year in NZ which is the first clinical year in NZ medical school. We’ll start by giving an overview of the medical school years at Otago, and then I’ll go through four big areas where 4th year is different how to best prepare for the transition into 4th year. 🙂 Throughout this video I will mention some key take home points. And at the end I’ll have a bonus section on things to do to make the most of your clinical years experience so stick around for that! In Otago, there are three campuses locations for clinical years, I'm at the Christchurch campus but the points I talk about here are broad and should be applicable to different locations!

The first half of medical school is focused on acquiring important knowledge whereas the clinical years are focused on being around doctors, health professionals and patients in the clinical environment.
