One of the loveliest cities i´ve ever visited. Near to the ocean, just one and half hour from Germany, full of music and relaxed people. Dublin is fantastic.

The pubs around St Stephen's Green are more authentic than the tourist pubs in  Temple.Bar. Gaol is pronounced 'Jail' not 'goal'. The Martello Tower and museum in Sandycove which is featured in the opening pages of James Joyce's Ulysses is worth a visit. Or maybe a visit to Dun Laoghaire and Killiney bay to get a feel of  suburban Dublin.  I would also recommend a day trip to Glendalough from Dublin via the beautiful Wicklow coastline. Or (one of my own favourite spots) a visit to the Scalp in the Dublin mountains .If it's a fine-day maybe a visit to the Powerscourt Estate (20km south of Dublin) set in beautiful scenery with the Sugarloaf Mountain as a backdrop.

Welcome to Dublin and have a wonderful time.  A little known secret is that all the museums, galleries and other cultural attractions have free admission on the first Wednesday of each month.  Enjoy!  :)

The city is split in two by the river Liffey - the South side is where Trinity/Temple Bar/ Grafton st/Stephens Green Park is situated, and can be a bit more expensive than the North side which has the O'Connell st, GPO, James Joyce Museum, the Spire, The Jameson distillery and Croke Park (not to mention others in it). The easiest way to find out where you are if you look at the street signs all the even numbered areas are South side, and odd numbered ones on the North side. So D1 would have the GPO in it, and Trinity is in D2.

I'm surprised they didn't say take in a match at croke park during the summer. I like the way you can be in one part of Dublin and it can be medieval and 15 minutes down the road it's victorian another 5 minutes up the road it's modern it's like walking through history it's one of my favourite things about my home town Dublin

Just realized I've been everywhere here =D I don't live in Ireland.
Guinness Storehouse is the best to visit the Gravity Bar when the sun is setting. The view is breathtaking & of course the best pint of Guinness I've ever had. Also, in Dublinia, the best exhibition is the Vikings Museum. Also, Bewley's café is gorgeous, but they're renovating it, so don't know what the "new" version will be like.
I love Dublin so much <3

Ireland is a beautiful country! If you plan on going there I would recommend NOT spending too much time in Dublin. You can see pretty much everything there is to see in 2 days (3 days Max). I made the mistake of staying in Dublin for 6 days and I was bored after a while. I guess it also depends on where you come from and which other cities in the world you have seen. Dublin definitely holds its own place and is definitely a very interesting city with a great history. After meeting the locals and talking to a few of them, I found out that Dublin is still sort of a up and coming city. For example, there were literally 2-3 night clubs in ALL OF DUBLIN. I saw girls in dresses and heels sitting in pubs which is something that is unheard of in the US. I guess that can also be attributed to the Irish pub going culture. What I really liked was the people were drinking in the alleys where most of the Pubs were located. It connected all the pubs to each other and it was like one big drinking party.

If you don't plan on buying Merino wool sweaters or junk that is sold in the name souvenirs, expect to buy nothing at all. My mom asked me to bring back tins of old fashioned sweets that you can easily find in England. I went to every sweet shop in town and was so disappointed to see candy bars (Yes, I went to Aunty Nellies as well). When visiting other cities I really wanted to buy items that represented the local community or the history of that town but sadly found the same souvenir junk I saw at the airport.

In Dublin, if you plan on going out to eat to a good restaurant, get there 6ish. The restaurants get packed very quickly and people in Ireland like to sit and enjoy their meals so tables don't empty up quickly. Also, restaurant staff can be quite rude! I guess thats what happens when there isn't a tipping culture.

Expect to be shocked by the lack of ethnic minorities. In the my whole trip I saw 2 black people who turned out to be tourists themselves.
