There has been another night of violence on the streets of Minneapolis. Riot police faced angry crowds of protesters after the fatal shooting of a black man.

Twenty year old Daunte Wright was shot and died after what the police say was an accident, when an officer mistook her gun for a Taser during a traffic stop.

The officer who shot him and the city's police chief have both resigned.

The shooting happened just a few miles from where the George Floyd murder trial is under way.

Fiona Bruce presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Nick Bryant in Minneapolis.

I don't live in America and even _I'm_ exhausted by the riots at this point.

At least they mentioned his arrest warrant. You know, the one for holding a woman at gunpoint in an aggravated robbery charge?
NO MAMA SHOULD FEAR FOR HER SON EVERY TIME HE ROBS A LIQUOR STORE

It was terrible what happened to him, but if he had obeyed the officer, this wouldn't have happened. How does looting stores and damaging property help anything?

They're riots not protests. Protesters don't burn and loot their own neighborhoods.

Why is the colour of his skin important? You are saying it like it justifies rioting.

There was a possibility of a gun in the car, there was an active warrant out for his but let’s not mention any of that lol

the police chief shouldn't have resigned, another black person (wanted for numerous crimes) fights with police and gets shot.

Stealing merchandise and damaging property is not "protesting", it s a criminal act. Call it what it is instead of watered-down PC nonsense

25 years in the job and she thought her gun was her tazar 😂😂🤣

If this report is correct, then the fact that a police officer who is 'serving' for 26 years in the department does not know the difference between gun and stun gun is unacceptable. she did it on purpose.

This was no accident, surely they know the difference between a taser and a gun

You use the phrase 'Riot Police' in the first 5 seconds yet continue to call the rioting a protest.

Why do you have to call him a black man? Why do you have to bring race into it? You should be ashamed of yourselves
