I just feel like it's 2:30 am & he's trying to sell me a rotisserie for 6 easy payments of $29.99.

Owned a detail shop for years in St. Pete Florida and worked on dealer's cars show cars and my own cars, I not only did detailing work I did body dents restoration and painted everything from panels to complete paint jobs. This was about thirty years ago so there wasn't much of a demand for plastic headlights but I still like to stay up to date with the latest problems in the industry. You are one of the most honest and the most informative on headlamp restoration, I did my neighbor's car's headlamps the exact same way like wet sanding and polishing a show car, very nice job.

Coco's doing a great job! At first, I thought he was sanding, and then I saw the mini skirt, and thought.... wait a minute?

This absolutely worked! I followed exactly and wow! My van is 2002 so mine had a lot of haze. They turned out just like the video! I think you did a great video and helped many people! Thank you

I use a UV protecting headlight wax twice a year that keeps the headlights looking like new. My wife's last car went 12 years and the headlights were still clear. (12 years of parking outside weekdays at her work) Good video.

UK viewer here 🇬🇧 and kudos for the video, fellah. 👍
I’m a weekend warrior but do many headlights and rears for family and friends. I use basically the same methods with slight variances.
Up until about 6 months ago, I always used Autoglym SRP to finish the polishing stage. I then bought some PlastX and have tried that on a few examples and tbh, there’s hardly any difference. As a protector, I use Meguiars Headlight Protector and after a few days (or at least 24 hrs) I add a normal wax on top.
Seems to work for me.
And a little tip that I use is to a a little car shampoo to the bucket of water I’m using to sand with. IMO, it makes the paper glide better.
Tip No.2 is to use a sponge sand block for the main area. Makes it so much easier👍
Great video, friend.

I love the way you pack a ton of information into a short video, cutting edge. I get driven nuts by the slow talkers that repeat themselves a dozen times to make the same point, like we're a bunch of idiots. Half the information is passed visually in the first place, it's like watching a movie, not reading a book. Good stuff.

👌 Nice video however, just a heads up for those who need an even easier solution. I bought a 14 year old Prius with heavily yellowed lenses and used Mothers Mag & aluminum polish and it worked like magic! No sandpaper, or electric buffer. Just Mothers, microfiber clothes, window cleaner and light to moderate elbow grease. I then sealed it with Maguires headlight coating spray which seals and has UV protection. I was so excited I just want to shout it from the roof!

I meant to watch a “headlight restoration” video, but I think I accidentally clicked “Rap God.”

I know this is an older video, and I was doing this same process for a long time, but as a professional mobile detailer now, I use a Rupes polisher with a blue wool pad/blue compound to start with, then follow with a yellow foam pad and yellow polish. I can get excellent results in under 15 min. And I've now started using Car Pro DLight to coat and protect the headlights from yellowing. Immense time saver process.

I've used Sylvania headlight restoration kits several times now. Similar to your method (400, 1000, &2000 grit wet paper, polishing compound and clear coat). I've done some heavily oxidized lights that you could NOT see through and they're still great after a couple of years now. NO buffers, all polishing done by hand (not that big a deal) and the results are spectacular! About $20 for the full kit with everything but the water.

If you ever decide to stop detailing you could be an auctioneer

I restored my headlights using clear coat spray.. the paint left some areas hazy, I'm sure it was due to my novice technique. I'm going to sand off the clear coat and do your method. I'm over here in Europe, I can't find that Maguires wax, do you have any other recommendations? Thanks for the video!

The proper way to do it: Mask off around your headlight. Using small DA polisher/sander start with around 400-600 grit wet sandpaper if headlights are really bad and factory clear is pealing, add water and keep surface wet. Continue with 800-1000-1500-2000-3000-4000 sandpaper disks, after that, using the same small polisher use MF cutting pad with cutting compound, do this step 1-2, after that use medium to light polish with a foam pad. This will make your headlight look better than new. After you finished polishing degrease surface (headlight) with panel prep, and protect it with UV coating. Ceramic coating, gyeon trim q2, or any decent headlight UV protection coating u can find. This is how you get perfection.

Not trying to be rude or overly critical, but just a suggestion. IMO it is important to cover the adjacent surfaces with tape prior to beginning this process. There is obvious "over-sanding" on the corner lights and paint trim below the light.

800 dry sanding ( left, right), 1500 dump sanding(up, down), 3000 wet sanding(left, right), compound, polish, uv protectant sealing. Thanks for the likes.

I absolutely love how fast you talk! You don’t waste a bunch of my time with useless information. Great job!

Great result on the head lights. It’s the fastest I’ve heard you speak. Were you on speed? Ideally mask off, sand, leave smallest of scratch marks and re-clear coat to fill in or else it will be faded again in a few months.
