The official flag of Colorado is an iconic emblem of the state, and the design is full of symbolism. Adopted in 1911, the flag we know today is actually Colorado's second flag. Like many other states, the history of the Colorado flag starts with Daughters of the American Revolution.

The red color of the C also represents the red sandstone rocks that are all over the state. That’s what the state is named after in the first place.

As a Colorado native, I knew most of this but it’s still cool to hear people acknowledging that our state exists. Normally people breeze over us unless they ski.

Coloradian here, the tricolor behind the c is also supposed to look like the mountain line from a distance, since there is some blue haze at the foot of the mountains sometimes!

My opinion but the Colorado flag is the best one out of all the States

Only the top blue stripe is for the skies, the bottom one is for all the rivers in the state, specifically the Colorado River
