It goes to show you how money controls these fire issues, especially Tahoe area special privileged, beside Getting military protection at Tahoe National Guard. I don't recall Nation Guard at other big fire areas last year.

I bet that machine will take down hundreds of trees even when a fire is not burning. I wonder much they could have thinned the forest ahead of time?

So long as we don't get an extreme wind event the fire is under control. The west side of the fire has burned out. The northeast side of the fire headed towards high barren peaks and won't be able to burn much further, the east side of the fire is about to reach the Nevada desert where once again no fuel, the southeast side of the fire could continue to burn for a while but its in a really remote area and will run into the Tamarack fire scar before it hits any towns. There will be smoldering embers/light smoke for another week or two but there are no big wind events in the forecast so I'm optomistic. Saving Meyers/Christmas valley was an amazing feat the firefighters are true heros.
