A COP26 multi-stakeholder finance roundtable: Tackling ocean risk through innovative solutions for climate resilience

The objective of the roundtable is to provide the opportunity for collaborative action and innovation towards marine and coastal NbS that tackle the risks presented by the interlinked threats of climate change, poverty and biodiversity loss. The event will spotlight how mobilising finance can be done in a way that increases sustainable development and safeguards against negative outcomes from blue finance investments. Outcomes will include strengthened support for ORRAA – including pledges for financial contributions directed towards ORRAA’s goal of $500m by 2030.

Using the convening power of the ORRAA, in collaboration with the UK (Defra and Cefas), this roundtable is the culmination of events, dialogue and communications held throughout 2021, including the ORRAA’s Solution Series labs and showcases. It brings together finance and insurance industry leaders, senior government representatives, including from G7 members and climate-vulnerable countries, and civil society organisations, to focus on the critical need for investment into marine and coastal Nature-based Solutions to combat ocean risk and build resilience to climate change impacts, and how to enable this.
