Understanding Transgender Bra Fittings
At Esteem Lingerie, we embrace diversity and cater to individuals at every stage of their journey. Angela emphasizes the importance of finding a supportive shop that understands and values transgender fittings, ensuring a comfortable and inclusive experience for all.
Special Fit Points to Consider
• Band Tension: Begin with a bra that offers gentle tension for support without discomfort. Avoid overly tight underwire bras initially, opting for flexible options like bralettes.
• Rib Cage Measurement: Due to a wider rib cage in transgender fittings, ensure accurate measurements to find the right band size. Adding two inches to the measurement helps in selecting the ideal band size.
• Cup Shape: Look for bras with wider cups to prevent squishing and ensure proper shaping, especially during the initial stages of transitioning.
• Enhancers: Explore fabric or silicone enhancers to adjust volume and achieve a balanced, natural look.
• Strap Length: Adjust strap length to fit comfortably, particularly for broader shoulders and longer backs. Consider tailoring or exploring brands with longer strap options for a perfect fit.
Expert Tips for a Flawless Fit
• Trial and Error: Finding the right bra may require experimentation. Visit a reputable shop for expert advice and personalized fittings to enhance your comfort.
• Try Before You Buy: Test a bra before purchasing multiples to ensure it meets your comfort and fit criteria.
• Explore Prosthetics: Consider specialized prosthetics designed for post-mastectomy patients for weight and volume if needed.

Navigating transgender bra fittings is a unique experience that deserves care and attention. By following these tailored tips and seeking expert guidance, you can embrace your transition with comfort and confidence. Remember, your comfort and satisfaction are paramount in finding the perfect fit.

i got fitted by a lovely team at a major Strip Mall and found it so non stressful. Because of that i returned time and time again as i needed different cup sizes. So a big win for them as i sent others there all because of my initial interaction. Love your explanations and long may you continue to educate others

I appreciate your interest in addressing our community, and the information is useful, but some of your word choices were a bit a awkward, for example we don’t have a “transgender process”, we “transition”, and instead of “a transgender fitting”, I’d suggest “fitting a transgender woman”would feel more humanizing.

Great video. The length of the shoulder straps almost always drives me crazy. Why don't companies just make straps longer. They can then be shortened with the adjusters so no real reason why manufacturers don't do this. Anither issue is finding smaller cup sizes with the larger breat straps. My size is 42A [given my strap size, A cup is quite a lot of breast tissue] but its neigh impossible to get this size of bra. I go down in the back strap size to get the right cup size [ B cup in a 38B bra is smaller than A cup in 42A bra ] and then fit a back extender - works for me!!!

Thanks for a great video on the subject of men being fitted for bra's. Quite a lot of us seem to be developing significant amounts of breast tissue (why???). Bras for (some) men are beginning to make sense.

I wish they made more bras that clasped in the front or used Velcro

Big sisters closet in Gastonia n.c helped a lot.
I got enough nerve to tell the lady what I was looking for.
she measured me and helped me buy things I needed.

Hi Angela from Esteem Lingerie -- Any thoughts on trans women wearing 2 bras, where the first is in effect a breast form, so that a bra with a larger cup size can be worn? Most girls want larger rather than smaller boobs, and it saves the money, time and pain of augmentation surgery.
