Today’s how to hair tutorial is a beautiful and easy French pin hairstyle perfect for medium to long hair lengths. This low bun hairstyle can be recreated using a u pin, hairpin, hair stick, pencil or hair prong. I’m so glad you’re loving these hair stick hairstyles as much as I am, they’re beautiful, quick, and gentle on the hair.

Share this bun hairstyle with anyone you think might need some hair inspiration, and don’t forget to check back, as I will be posting new hair tutorials soon.

How to Use French Hair Pin/Hair Forks:

• Ensure your hairstyle includes a tight twist.
• When inserting your hair fork, make sure it’s parallel to your head.
• Insert through enough hair for it to feel tight as you flip.
• Wiggle your hair pin as you push it along your scalp.
• Allow the end to go out and over the left side of your bun for a more secure hold, rather than staying along your scalp.
• Securing quickly will create a tighter finish.
• Practice; it will take a few tries to get the hang of it, so try not to get discouraged.

How to Recreate French Pin Bun Hairstyle:

1. Gather your hair into a low ponytail and hold with your left hand.
2. With your right hand, grab the ponytail and loop it around your thumb to create a bun.
3. Wrap your ends counterclockwise over the base, forming the top.
4. Tightly twist any remaining ends and wrap them counterclockwise underneath the bun.
5. Hold the bun against your head with your left hand.
6. With your right hand, take your hair fork and insert it to the right of your fingers, push the tips out to the right side, and press them against your head as you flip your pin to the right.
7. Push the French pin against your head until it comes out the left side of your bun.

My hair is too short for this (just past shoulder length) BUT! I tried this style as a half up/half down do and it works and looks so elegant still! Thank you for showing!

I’d really enjoy more hair stick and French pin tutorials.
I am over claw clips. I don’t want the same hairstyle as everyone else and they’re not comfortable to drive or lay back in.

What's the trick with getting the pin to hold the hair? I insert it as shown and my hair falls out completely.

I wish it slowed down when the hair pin was put in. I couldn't even see how the twisting/turning happened 😕

Thanks for showing the front look too. No one is showing how the face looks after making the bun.. or the tightness of the bun

What do you do with the ends? Can't see... I'm trying to replicate what you're doing but it just falls out

No matter what I do, I can’t get the pin to stay tight or my layers to not pop out. I’ve been using a French pin for years to create a donut bun with no issues!

I guess my hair is not long enough to do this because it keeps falling out. My hair is past my shoulders.
