Are Revealing Fashion Choices a Form of Female Empowerment?

Some believe there is a growing trend, particularly among younger women, to dress more revealingly than ever before, leaving many women concerned that showing more skin and wearing less in public has become socially acceptable and normalized. These detractors claim women are choosing provocative wardrobe choices for the wrong reasons: to attract men and online followers. However, women who are choosing to wear the clothing in question claim they should have the freedom to wear what they want and shouldn’t be “slut shamed” or forced to censor their wardrobe. They claim women who have a problem with it are from an older generation with an even older sense of fashion and style. Nicole, a social media fashion influencer and wardrobe stylist, says showing more skin is all about female empowerment. Radio show host Andrea Kaye and Kent State University Associate Professor Dr. Suzy D’Enbeau weigh in, explaining why they disagree and believe dressing in a revealing way is not actually empowering to women at all. Plus, Dr. Phil meets Nicole, who claims she was denied entry at Disneyworld due to her outfit. She says when she posted a video of her story online, she was “slut shamed” and even received death threats because of her outfit. Dr. Phil also speaks with Marie, a mother who says she is concerned about her 19-year-old daughter’s safety due to what she wears. Are people just asking for more modesty, or is this another case of telling someone else how to live their life? (21052RR)

Yeah no its for the male gaze and because you feel the need to compete with other women even when guys aren't around....women who are actually confident do not need external validation, nor do they need to take pictures of themselves 24/7, etc.

It doesn't matter what you're wearing. People get sexualized no matter what. People get kidnapped and raped no matter what.

I feel my most beautiful doing the exact opposite. I wear hijab and feel like a queen covering 😅. But I shouldn't be tortured going to grocery store and seeing your hanging butt cheeks lol

Dressing like a tramp gives you power over men, sure. If that’s what you want. It’s a cheap trick, though, and most decent guys will avoid you like plague. So.. empowering? Sometimes. Will it lead to positive outcomes? Prob not.

We do not live in a modest world anymore. Finding a lady is very rare nowadays.

I'm with the women! I think we should grow out of hiding our bodies and be more confident because our bodies are nothing to be ashamed of, they're natural parts of us. My mother would drive me insane if she saw me wearing that but I really wish I could and I will as soon as I move away from her.

Its my right to drive a Lamborghini because I like how it makes me feel.
But you have no right to look at it or make compliments, comments or assumptions!

And if you dont like it, maybe you should find a different road to drive on. And if we're going to the same place, maybe you should find some place else to go.

And if you think it burns too much gas and pollutes the air maybe you should sell your car and start riding a bike!

And lastly if you dont think my way is the right way and should be the only way, maybe you should show me some respect and do unto me as I do unto myself!
👏👏😂
